Do you have old towels, blankets, sheets or flannel shirts that are ready for the trash? Don’t throw them away just yet. You can use all that fabric and cut out the cost of buying fabric to make your diapers. If you don’t have any old fabric lying around, don’t worry. A quick trip to WalMart with a few dollars is all you need. Any of the following will do nicely: cotton fleece, flannel, polyester, terry cloth, stretch knit, terry wool or micro fleece. These cost between $2.00 and $7.00 a yard.
There are lots of free patterns available online that you can print and use. You need to pick out a style or type of diaper that you want to try and print off your pattern. Once you have the pattern that you want you will know how much fabric you need.
Now that you have your pattern and your fabric gathered together, its time to start sewing. If you don’t have a sewing machine then ask a friend. If you don’t have a friend with one then you can go to your local fabric shop. They almost always will rent by the hour to use one of the machines at the store.
